Michael Boll talks with Jennifer Sparrow, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning at Singapore American School.
Previously, Jennifer was the Director of Assessment and Educational Data which spurred my interest in talking with her. Data, especially big data, is more easily attained than ever before. But are we really using it in schools to inform our instruction? Can we use it to help us better understand the specific strengths and difficulties each of our students have?
Join me as I ask Jennifer those questions, how it works at her school, the resistance an idea like this faces and what the future might hold.

Jennifer is amazing! I worked with her at SAS as well as took a few of her master courses. She was a key mentor of my thesis. She can develop an assessment, create a spreadsheet, and analyze data for anything! I learned a tremendous amount from her about formative and summative assessment as well as leadership. If you have the chance to take one of her courses- or pick her brain- it is always well worth your time.
